FIVE SENSES |
When undertaking Tarot readings or any psychic work, almost all of the five senses are at work: sight, smell, touch, sometimes hearing with the help of the sixth one: intuition. The sense of taste is rarely experienced during psychic work. |

SIGHT |
One of our most valuable senses as it allows us to appreciate the world around us: the vibrant colours of a sunset or the beauty of the sea for instance. Sight gives us the ability to read, to decipher others people feelings through their eyes, to choose our partner because of their looks and more. A very precious gift that we take for granted. |
During Tarot readings, sight is very important as primarily it helps to decipher the cards and their symbolism. Sight is also very valuable to me as I used clairvoyance, the ability to perceive directly images or symbols or even physical people related specifically to the querent's past, present or future. |
Colours around you (the cloth on your table, candles and crystals for example) are also important during Tarot work, as colours have their own vibrations and effects on the mind.
Crystals are well known for their healing properties, both on the physical and spiritual level. However they have a simple quality which attracts people to them: their beauty, their shapes, colours and preciousness. |
Go to the crystals section of Oephebia's Arcanum to discover how crystals work on the spiritual side, or to the colours page to discover the meaning of colours and their subtle energies on our mind, body and spirit. |
To please the sense of sight, I have started a project to create my own Tarot pack with my own symbolism and colours. Go to the Tarot design page in the Arcanum to see my contribution to the world of Tarot |

| SMELL |
Scent is a powerful sense and perfume made from plants, flowers, barks and berries have been around for centuries. The ancient Egyptians used incense, perfume for rituals, baths, ceremonies and embalmment. The ancient world (Sumerians, Babylonians, Greeks and Romans) used scent to purify, communicate with the Gods, for protection, to give taste to wine and food, to heal and to encourage victory (the laurel crown seen on the heads of Roman emperors).
The brain is able to associate a scent with memories (good or bad) or feelings (happiness, security to nostalgia and sadness).
For instance, the smell of freshly brewed coffee is a well known "trick" by Estate Agents to sell a property; as the smell of coffee gives a sense of security and a "homely" feeling to a place.
On a more personal note, the scent of violets triggers my brain to an automatic feeling of nostalgia as violet flowers and perfume were my grandmother's favourite! |
When undertaking psychic work, readings or studying the cards or else, scent can enhance the mood and prepare your higher mind to its tasks. Burning incense or essential oils will help to sharpen your sense of awareness.
See the essential oils page to discover their effect on mind and spirit. |

TOUCH |
Some psychics or mediums have the ability to touch an object associated with a person (deceased or not) and "to feel" information about specific events and places involving the owner of the object. This ability is called Clairsentience. |
| |
HEARING |
Often, when I am reading the Tarot, I have the ability to hear clearly, inwardly information relating to the past, present or future of a querent. This ability is called clairaudience and is valuable to me as it allows me to provide more specific guidance in areas of concern. |
